A couple more patterns from the Fantasy & Legend Scroll Saw Puzzles book. Here we have Pegasus & Lythe. No I did not cut these into the puzzles, I like them like this. Maybe next time!

Just for Fun

This was a fun small project. It was designed to be cut into a puzzle... I liked it better like this.

UPDATE (10/17/08):
I took my little friend to work and he was helping me guard my desk. Then, as I was talking with a dear friend I found out that her three year old grandson Jacob has cancer. He has been through 4 rounds of chemo and is starting to lose his hair and is sick to his stomach. So I decided my friend would be better off with Jacob to help with his battle! For those who believe and pray – please say a prayer for Jacob and his battle that he his bravely fighting!

For The Kids

I would think most people who get hooked on woodworking (scroll sawing) often look for reasons to make sawdust. With that thought I jumped at this chance!

My sister in-law started a teach position where she is working with special needs children. With the county fair coming up, each of the kids where to make items to enter. So we came up with the idea of making some wood puzzles. As it needed to be related to our state (California) I cut two each of three patterns. We used a silhouette of the state, the brown bear (as seen on our state flag) and a quail (state bird). I cut out the puzzles and sanded the roughest spots and the kids took it from there. They finished sanding and then painted the puzzles. There were a few 1st & 2nd places. Each entry that received a 1st, 2nd or 3rd helped raise money for their school. Congratulations to all of the students for a great job!

Napkin Holder

After refinishing a reclaimed table, we needed a napkin holder to match. Once again, I found a pattern by Steve Good. Once made, I used the same stain as on the table.

Picture Frame

Had to take the challenge of making this! I had not done that much detail work. It was great fun making this. Made from ¼” poplar. This was my first project after carpal tunnel surgery.

Amazing Grace

This was a fun project I made for my wife. Amazing Grace is a song that has alot of meaning to her.

Basket Weave Vase

This pattern called for much thinner wood to make more of a basket. This was my first attempt at the weave type cut. After it was all put together I thought it would make a nice vase.
